It is widely known that life expectancy is increasing. But the reason why the average figures are higher than they used to be, say, hundred years ago is not that all people live longer than before. One reason is that, due to medical research, many illnesses were eliminated; the second one is that fewer people die in wars. Generally, the life of modern man is endangered by many factors. One is the increasing pollution of the environment by industry and transport; another one is sedentary lifestyle of people living in cities and towns, that is, the majority of the population of the planet. The third one is the quality of food we eat and water we drink which results in a lot of diseases. The fourth one is that living in big cities leads to epidemics, and even pandemics of many catchy illnesses. Unhealthy life results in the fact that many people are overweight.

The only possible way of preserving your health is, therefore, healthy way of life which includes keeping fit, balanced meals, and giving up unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking alcohol, and, of course, drugs.

Physical fitness is a general state of good physical health. For anyone who really wants to be healthy, fitness has become an integral part of their lives. The fitness boom resulted in a rise in the numbers of people participating in sports and sports activities. It is a well-known fact that even moderate physical activity can protect you from heart diseases and strokes, obesity and influenza. There are many ways of keeping fit. Firstly, you could visit health and fitness clubs. A lot of health and fitness clubs, public leisure centres, huge indoor water parks are very popular among people of all ages. Secondly, regular exercise is necessary. People of different ages can choose or design exercises that will fit them. Some people do aerobics or yoga; others prefer weight training in a gym. Many people prefer walking or jogging which are the cheapest and most accessible sports. Doing some sport or other on a regular basis is the best way of keeping fit. In Russia a number of sports activities are popular among the old and the young: football, swimming, cycling, skiing, skating, fishing, hunting, roller-skating, etc. Mass running competitions gain popularity with Russians. City marathons have become sporting events reported on the radio, television and in the press.

A healthy diet is an important part of staying healthy, too. This diet contains reduced amounts of cholesterol, fat, sugar and salt. It helps protect our body from a wide range of diseases; the most dangerous are heart diseases, liver diseases, and cancer.

To stay healthy one must, of course, abstain from smoking. Everybody knows smoking is hazardous for your health and can lead to fatal diseases like cancer. Smoking should undoubtedly be banned in all public places.

What is the "self-Realization"?

Self-Realization is a scientific process which reveals a new vision and understanding so that you have:

  • Freedom from worries and fear
  • Scientific solutions to inner and external conflicts
  • Smoother relationships
  • Inner peace
  • Equanimity amid any circumstances
  • Eternal happiness
  • Experience of your true eternal Self
  • Experience the depths of spirituality while fulfilling your worldly responsibilities

What do you mean by the “big Self” ?

I will use the ocean as an analogy. The waves on the surface of the ocean represent the small self (constantly changing and moving i.e. thoughts, feelings, desires etc) and the entire vast ocean, including its depth, represent the big, or cosmic Self.

Thoughts in our mind can be compared to waves on the surface of the ocean.  When we experience the silent depths of our Self, it is like our individual waves settling into and unifying with the unbounded ocean. The wave and the deepest depths of the ocean are one and the same. The entire, unbounded ocean is our cosmic, big Self.

Getting aquainted in different cultures

Now I want to talk about dating in Australia.
With so many people in Australia coming from different cultural backgrounds, it’s really worthwhile to learn how to understand other cultures. There are a couple of ways to understand cultural differences. But, the most important thing to remember is that everyone is ultimately a person first - so judging each person on their own merit is the best way to become a more understanding and emphatic person.

    Different experiences

    Australia is becoming more multicultural. This means that people and traditions from other countries and cultures are becoming more noticeable and celebrated. Since it's highly likely you'll come across someone who is different to you, or a situation that is unfamiliar, it's definitely helpful to know how you can be become more aware and understanding of other cultures.

    It can be very easy to just stick with what you know rather than meeting people who are different to you. However, trying to understand cultural differences can open you up to a whole lot of new and exciting experiences.

    Ways of understanding cultural differences:

    • Travel! One of the best ways to experience and understand other cultures is to actually live among them.
    • Become self-aware by working out your own values, and personal biases. In doing this you are able to think about how these personal traits might impact on your approach to understanding cultural difference.
    • Do your own research. Learning about different cultures can be a great way of developing an understanding of cultural diversity.
    • Talk to someone from a different cultural background, and try and get to know them a bit better.
    • Just be more accepting. Sometimes it’s not that easy to gain an understanding of cultural difference for whatever reason. In these situations the best approach is just to accept that some people are different and that’s ok.
